Any person that tells you that you need a certain keyword density on the main page of a site is way behind the times. Keyword density is not nearly as important as it used to be. The real name of the game is off page ranking improvement through linking. Search engines put a lot more weight on the links given to it from other sites. At the moment, they feel that these links ensure the validity of the site since other people are linking back to it. The algorithms are different for each search engine but off page optimization is still king for all of them.
