Cars are engineered to last a long time with proper maintenance and vehicle care. An extended warranty is an agreement between the maker and the purchaser of an item. The manufacturer of the product promises to pay for a repair that may occur within a certain amount of time. For a vehicle, especially with the sophisticated computer components and the knowledge and skills of the mechanic needed, can exceed the cost of the warranty itself. This fact steers car owners towards purchasing a car warranty as an assurance that if something major on the vehicle breaks than the repair will be paid for by the warranty company.
