Smoky Mountain Nature at Cataloochee

If you’re searching for an out of the way area of the Great Smoky Mountains Park then consider a destination at the Eastern edge called Cataloochee.  It is a little more rustic here and most of the roads are not paved but it is well worth the trip.  The area has charms all its own and some unique features.  There are definitely some great Smoky Mountain nature photographic opportunities to be found here. One of the best spot for a vista view is the overlook of Mt. Sterling Ridge and Big Cataloochee Mountain.  Fall will present spectacular color and the foreground has lush trees and the split rail fence. Lots more flora and fauna is here for you to discover.
